            <title>December 2008: The cool factor: Emotional self regulation and mindful behavior</title>
            <description>This past Sunday’s New York Times had an article about “The Cool Factor”. Starting with the observation that, in Obama, “Americans elected a man repeatedly recognized for his uncommon calmness.” The article goes on to explain that calmness can be cultivated. In this newsletter, I will first include some excerpts from that article, and then go on to briefly discuss how this type of “mindful behavior” differs from the traditional concepts of “self control” and “willpower”.
