Proactive psychoanalysis: what is the focus of psychoanalytic therapy |
|
|
"Proactive psychoanalysis" may sound like an oxymoron: Psychoanalysis is often thought of as focused on the past. And being “proactive” means being oriented toward the future. It is my intention to startle you, to get you to think... And the point I want to make is that psychoanalysis need not be the cliche some people make it to be. It certainly need not be a way to escape reality, or to hide in the past. Psychoanalysis can still have the immediacy, the freshness, the urgency, of revealing to us those things that are hidden in plain sight... and profoundly transform our lives once we face them. See: |
